Dan joined Cohen & Burnett, P. C. in November 2009 and is responsible for the tax preparation services provided to our clients. Dan brings a wealth of experience in tax preparation for individuals, privately-held companies, partnerships and limited liability companies and is delighted to be able to use his public accountancy skills for the firm and for its valued clientele.
Dan graduated summa cum laude in August 1975 from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s of Science in Commerce and Business Administration where he majored in Accounting. Following his graduation, he worked for one of the “Big 8” public accounting firms. Dan left this firm to join a colleague in founding a firm of certified public accountants in Atlanta, Georgia. The firm grew from the two founding partners to five partners and over twenty professionals during the seven years that he was a partner.
After leaving public accounting, Dan has served in financial leadership capacities with innovative and growing companies primarily in the aerospace and telecommunications industries. Most recently, Dan was the Chief Financial Officer for eight years with Valcourt Building Services, L. C., a $50 million building services contractor serving the commercial real estate industry with offices along the East Coast.
Dan moved to the Washington area in 1983 and currently lives with his wife, Carol, and their dog, Angel, in Annandale, Virginia. Carol is a Program Manager with Stanley Associates, Inc. currently working at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Dan and Carol have a blended family of three daughters, one son and two sons-in-law. Carol’s oldest daughter graduated from Virginia Tech and lives with her husband in Richmond, where she works remotely as a business intelligence lead with Booz Allen. Carol’s younger daughter graduated from James Madison University and also lives in Richmond with her husband; she is a website usability analyst for CarMax. Dan’s son graduated from Virginia Tech and now lives in Phoenix, Arizona where he is an engineer with Honeywell. Dan’s youngest is a senior at Christopher Newport University in Newport News, Virginia where she is majoring in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology and a minor in Political Science.
Dan is licensed to practice public accounting in Virginia. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants – Personal Financial Planning Section and Tax Section – and the Northern Chapter of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants – Taxation Committee, Personal Financial Planning Committee and the CPA Eldercare and Estate Planning Committee.
In his leisure time, Dan enjoys golf, tennis, softball, hiking, biking and just about anything where he can spend some free time enjoying the great outdoors. While around the house, he enjoys reading, watching football, Wii sports games, and spending time with family and friends.

SUSAN MARCHESE GRECO, MS | Director of Business Development |
Susan joined Navigator Wealth Management in September 2007 as Director of Marketing, responsible for developing and implementing a robust communications plan for Navigator, including developing and distributing the firm's print and online materials, and advertising the expertise of the firm's services. She has since built up the Business Development department, which educates newcomers to the firm's services through seminars, e-communications, and CE-credit workshops for professionals.
A native of New Jersey, Susan moved to the D.C. area in 1998. Susan earned her Bachelor's in Political Science and Art History from Fairfield University, Connecticut, and Master of Science degree in Marketing from The New School University in New York City. She holds a certificate from the University of Maryland in Strategic Planning.
Susan had previously been Director of Marketing Communication for Boston Scientific's Auditory division, Advanced Bionics from July, 2005 - April, 2007. Prior to that, she was Executive Director of the Deafness Research Foundation and National Campaign for Hearing Health in Washington, D.C. from 1998 - 2005. Susan's early career was in marketing, communications and business development for not-for-profit organizations such as Girl Scouts of the USA, NY and Partnership for the Homeless, NY.

Elizabeth joined Navigator Wealth Management in October 2008 after a recent relocation back to Northern Virginia. She grew up in Manassas, Virginia and has lived in Wichita, Kansas for the last 9 years. She graduated from Wichita State University with a General Studies BS in Ethics, Psychology, and Women's Studies.
Elizabeth joined Navigator Wealth with 5 years of experience in insurance and investment products. After closing her personal lines insurance agency in Wichita, she joined a Financial Planning firm until she was called back to the Northern Virginia area. Presently, she holds her Series 6 and 63 licenses.
Before leaving Kansas, Elizabeth enjoyed serving her community as a Lunch Buddy mentor for an underprivileged student with Schools for Excellence and volunteering at the Starkey Foundation to assist mentally handicapped adults find employment and housing. She is currently involved in many activities of which most are centered around her eight-year-old daughter's schedule including piano lessons and weekly library visits. Elizabeth is currently working towards a personal fitness goal and is prepping to take her Series 7 exam. She highly anticipates exploring the DC Metro area with her daughter, including watching several live NHL games, hiking, and touring many museums.

LAWRENCE D. SOLOMON, MBA, CFP® | Wealth Navigation Manager |
Larry joined Navigator Wealth Management in May 2007 as Wealth Navigation Manager. In this role, he provides leadership in all aspects of the organization's financial and investment analyses, including financial plans, investment research, manager selection and monitoring, and client reports. Larry has almost sixteen years of industry experience in a variety of investment management, research, and financial planning roles. Originally from New York, he received an undergraduate degree in Economics and Business from SUNY Albany in 1989. After working for a year, he was admitted to graduate school at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA, where he earned a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) in 1992. Through his academic career, Larry competed as a Powerlifter, winning numerous Powerlifting and Bench Press contests, and was the 1989 New York State Powerlifting champion in the 148 pound weight class.
Larry began his career in the financial services industry in 1992 as a Registered Representative and Financial Advisor for Equitable Life in White Plains, NY. He soon moved to a more analytically focused role as Statistician for The No-Load Fund Investor, an investment newsletter published by no-load fund guru Sheldon Jacobs, in Irvington, NY. At The No-Load Fund Investor, he was responsible for calculating, validating, and publishing all mutual fund performance data and statistical information in the monthly newsletter and was the Statistical Editor for five editions of The Handbook for No-Load Fund Investors, an annual compendium of over 2,600 no-loads and The Guide to Successful No-Load Fund Investing, a how to manual on mutual funds for the individual investor
In 2000, he left New York and moved his family to the mid-west to work as Investment Research Manager for Nationwide Financial in Columbus, OH. At Nationwide, he was responsible for performance analysis, risk monitoring, and due diligence of mutual funds, separately managed accounts, and variable sub-accounts utilized in Nationwide Financial products. Wanting to get back to his friends and family on the East Coast, he relocated to the Capital Area in 2005, first working as a Private Wealth Analyst at Merrill Lynch's Private Bank in Washington, DC, and then in 2006, as Director of Financial and Investment Planning at Strategic Financial Advisors (SFA) in Bethesda, MD. At both Merrill and SFA, Larry was responsible for performance monitoring, due diligence, and qualitative and quantitative investment research. He also developed modular and comprehensive financial plans and conducted capital market research to identify opportunities and enhance portfolio performance.
In 2002, he completed the Certified Financial Planner course work and comprehensive exam and currently maintains the CFP designation He holds Series 7, Series 6, Series 63, Series 65, and Insurance licenses. Over the years, he has contributed to and been quoted in numerous articles on mutual funds appearing in popular financial publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones Newswires, The LA Times, and others. He and his wife Maura enjoy living in Germantown, MD, where he is an avid fisherman, weightlifter, and sports car enthusiast.

ANDREW M. VANDERHOOF, J.D., LL.M | Director of Legal Services |
Andrew M. Vanderhoof, J.D., LL.M, joined Cohen & Burnett, P.C., as an estate planning attorney in October 2007. Andy brings extensive estate planning experience to the firm and he is thrilled to be engaged full time in the practice area of wills, trusts, estates and gifts. Andy is a 1977 graduate of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, where he attained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government. He subsequently graduated in 1980 from the Willamette University School of Law in Salem, Oregon. While in law school Andy was the Form Editor on the Willamette University Law Review and headed up the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity. When Andy was admitted to the Virginia State Bar in the fall of 1980, he had joined the law firm of Tate & Bywater in Vienna, Virginia. Andy had a general law practice at Tate & Bywater for 21 years. In 2001, Andy joined the preeminent legal publishing firm of BNA Tax Management in Washington, D.C., where he was a Federal Tax Law Editor in the Estates, Gifts & Trusts/Exempt Organizations group. He joined the D.C. Bar in 2002 and completed his LL.M in International Taxation from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in 2004.
Andy and his wife Marie have been happily married for over 22 years, and they have two boys. Marie has worked in Human Resources at the CIA for over 25 years, and the boys both attend Virginia Tech. Ian is a senior majoring in Computer Science, and Zack is a sophomore majoring in Business. Both boys have been active in swimming and soccer extensively over the years, among other activities. Although they are now "empty nesters," Andy and Marie have found their lives to be as busy and engaging as ever.
